Dr. Kaan Kaatsız is currently employed as Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering at Başkent University, Turkey. He received his BS, MS and PhD degrees from Middle East Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering. His professional and research expertise is related with structural and earthquake engineering fields with a strong focus in performance-based earthquake engineering, torsional response of asymmetric systems and nonlinear modeling techniques. Dr. Kaatsız worked on developing nonlinear static analysis procedures for a variety of structural systems. He has been involved in research projects focusing on developing seismic energy dissipating devices and provided expertise in nonlinear structural modeling in several studies. He is currently working on a range of topics including but not limited to torsional response of structural systems, seismic qualification of industrial equipment, computer applications for nonlinear problem solving and finite element applications.
